Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel
Summary:Between us and the moon is a story about sixteen year old Sarah who falls in love and at the same time into a pit of lies. When one day her boyfriends breaks up with her because she "watches the world" Sarah is determined to change. So Sarah (aka Bean) tries to be like her popular and beautiful sister Scarlett. She fakes her age, clothes, and even tells people that she's headed off to MIT in the fall. However at the same time she's starting a relationship with Andrew a friend of Scarlett's and an incredibly kind boy, but he's 19 and she's only 16. Soon her lies are almost standing in the way of their relationship. She only expected a summer fling, but as Bean really falls in love with Andrew she knows her secrets and lies are about to be exposed, but should she really risk the truth? Isn't it better the way it is? *scroll down for spoilers*
Opinion: Do you know that moment in a horror movie where the pretty girl is about to open the door and let a murderer in? That's pretty much how I felt when Sarah started lying I was just mentally screaming STOPPPPP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE in my brain ... for pretty much a good 3/4 of the book? Even though that was going on I have to say I really enjoyed this read! ... *sigh* I really can't say much of my opinion without spoiling this story though :/ so... *scroll down for spoilers* Read if you love: love, summer romances, lies, truths, future Cover: 4.5/5 I love the typography and that you can see the stars! Rating: 5/5 Favorite Quote: "Let's swim to the moon"
Summary Spoilers: Sarah doesn't tell the truth, in fact she holds off for as long as possible. On the very last possible night she had to tell Andrew the truth and he pretty much has to leave her. Sarah's heartbroken, but through this relationship she formed a new one both with herself and her sister.
Opinion Spoilers: I sort of knew this was going to happen? but at the same time when it did I was really sad... I can't lie and Sarah and Andrew weren't a cute couple because they really were and I really wish that they were closer in age because then there definitely would have been a happy ending. Even though the relationship didn't work out, I was really glad Sarah found herself, because it was clear in the beginning (after the first breakup) that Sarah really didn't feel complete, but by the end she did find out she was an amazing person and throughout her life she would meet people that would love her for her and not force her to change.
