Book Slump

I HAVEN'T HAD ANY FREE TIME IN FOREVER! That also means I haven't been able to touch a book since around January! This has by far been one of the worst book slumps I've had but not to fear! If you are in the same case as me here are some tips and tricks for getting out of a book slump!

. 1. Order more books:
  • This is pretty much my go to method. It's sort of my own weird way of self guilting myself into reading, but it hasn't failed me so far! Not only that, but it also allows you to see what is going on in the bookish community and through reading reviews or just scrolling through covers you can find new favorites to add on your shelf! Overall, a new book never hurts!! (except for you bank but comment below if you want a post about how to save money on books!)
2. Relax
  • Sometimes you really just need a break! Even though most of us love to read, even the best of readers needs a break! So just have a day for yourself! Take a bath, light a candle, play some music and watch a movie or two! You'll find yourself reaching for a book before you know it!
3. Go on Goodreads or Instagram
  • Inspiration is always a good idea! By looking at other people's pictures or recently added books you can get motivated to get back into the reading world and start reading again! (Shameless self promo: goodreads: stephaniexchen  and instagram: bringing.paperback ) There are tons of different people out there who knows what a good book is and by looking through their favorites you could find your own!
4. Reread a book
  • Try rereading a book! Sometimes all it takes is rereading a favorite series to get back in the mojo! (I know Harry Potter is most people's go to books) Though I don't personally love rereading books sometimes I find myself in a slump or accidentally start rereading a book and it is quite satisfying! You know a book is good when you already know everything that happens but find more and more to it every time you read it!
5. Ask for recommendations
  • Your to be read list feels too long? Maybe you just need someone to push out a couple into your attention! A long list often feels overwhelming so just having someone choose for you or even often a whole new opinion can be refreshing!
6. Take your time
  • No pressure! Slumps can be hard to get out of and quite frustrating, but pressuring yourself can bring things you don't want! Reading is meant to be enjoyable and don't read if you know you won't enjoy it! Just take a breather and start again when you're good and ready, but most of all remember to have fun reading!!

If you have anymore tips and tricks please comment below I'd love to hear them!
I also added some of my own art to brighten up this post hope you liked it and please tell me if you'd like to see more! (sorry for it being quite chunky, I use a macbook and the pen pressure doesn't work)

Thanks for reading!
