Synopsis: "One Life to One Dawn.

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end."

Review: ALSKFHDSFUGOJIE This book is FREAKIN FANTABULOUS. I did a read along with Kyla from@ourbookworlds on instagram and I am more than happy that she urged me to read this book because words cannot really explain how much I adored this book.

THINGS I LOVED ABOUT THIS BOOK:
  • The Characters
    • WOW. (I was going to end it there but I want to elaborate on this amazingness so let me explain.) Shiza is one of the first characters you meet and she is one of the most AMAZING mc's EVER. Here's why: She is a POC. She is the sassiest lady you ever did meet. She is intelligent and extremely witty (which is great because she also happens to be the best at talking back to people while expressing her opinion slyly.) She is funny, yet kind and has a strong heart. She is also amazing with the bow! All of this should have you convince (how could you not be?!).
    • Khalid is another character you will meet early on. HE IS EVERYTHING. (I will stop there to keep you safe from spoilers because I'm kind like that even though I'm dying to talk about Khalid... you're welcome.)
    • Renée also includes other amazing characters each with their own back story and so much depth. The characters are absolutely intriguing and amazing and were by far one of my favorite parts of this story.
  • The Plot
    • For obvious reasons I can't say much about this but trust me when I say it was BEAUTIFUL.
    • There are so many levels to this story and although I didn't think there were many HUGE plot twists it was definitely gripping. This book didn't even need huge plot twists to have me on the edge and speed reading this book all the while trying to savour each word.
  • The Writing Style
    • Renée Ahdieh is a poet. Ok.. so many she isn't really, but her writing is SO beautiful I consider her one.
    • Just look at all the beautiful quotes I picked out because I absolutely LOVE THEM.
  •  Retelling
    • I love retellings and this one in particular was wonderful.
    • Although I have never actually A Thousand and One Nights, I know the general story and this retelling is a gorgeous twist on A Thousand and One Nights. Though if you don't know of the original story, don't worry, it's still a freaking amazing story!

If you can't tell... I thought this book was FANTABULOUS. I would reccommend to everyone that can read. You're welcome in advance.
