Unpopular Opinions Book Tag I love reading other people's bookish tags and I'm so excited to do one myself! If you've been here you may know that I like the majority of the books I read so... let's see how this goes!

YALLWEST //still feels like a dreamI WENT TO YALLWEST. I want to share my experience with yall (see what I did there) as this was my FIRST bookish event and it was magnificent. First of all I have to say I only spared enough time to head out for an hour or two so I wasn't actually able to attend signings or panels, but I still had a blast! I actually headed to Yallwest with my dad (who helped me score a couple more items than I would have alone). Essentially my yallwest experience was simply trying to get free things whooo! Here is my oh so amazing haul from simply 2 hours worth of yallwest!
Book Haul
NO SHAME.... yes I bought more books (THIS IS ACTUALLY TWO (and a half) HAULS PUT TOGETHER)
to be fair I have very few books compared to the rest of the bookish world (bloggers, bookstagrammers, etc.) So let me just show you guys what I ordered! (and pretty much some books that will be reviewed in the future)
Let me know in the comments which books you've read or want to read!
Thanksgiving
It's Thanksgiving here for us in America and I would like to take this chance to just let you guys know of things I am thankful for:
1) YOU - Thank you for all the support and amazingness (you deserve everything you've ever dreamed of) 2) the bookstagram community - If you are from the bookstagram community THANK YOU SO MUCH because you guys might be some of the nicest and most positive people I have ever met! 3)Family and Friends - They probably won't see this, but thanks for being there for me all the time (even when I'm weird) it means a lot! 4) BOOKS- ahah no explanation needed 5) animals - I really want a dog in my life (or a cat no judgement) 6) book fandoms- It's really crazy to think that even when you don't know someone you can both be Harry Potter fans or love SJMaas. (I LOVE IT) 7) Food- seriously though, it's great you should try it sometime 8) EVERYTHING- It can be hard to believe, but I really am SO grateful for all that I have, because not everyone is as fortunate. The chance that this small teen (me) can find such an amazing group of people with the same passion is something that only happens in our world and I'm so thankful to be living in this time and I can't wait to see where we grow from here. I'm also so grateful for a roof over my head, clothes, food, and the fact I can keep on growing my small book collection with a group of amazing people. Again, thanks so much!
Let me know in the comments what you are thankful for!
I was lucky enough to be contacted by Quentin and I received a solar book light in exchange for a review, but this in no way affects my honest opinion about the product.
You can find it here: SOLAR BOOK LIGHT First of all this light definitely gets ★★★★★'s from me! I have very light sensitive eyes (bright lights hurt), so the fact that this book light comes with an option of off, half brightness, and full brightness is just AMAZING! Not only that, it can be solar powered or plugged in to be charged, but I do love that this gives people the option to be eco-friendly! (plus I live in Cali, so... solar powered it is!). It also has a bendy neck that allows readers to move the light to wherever they would like. Lastly, this book light is practically weightless, which is amazing! I hate reading off brightly lit screens (phones, laptops, etc.) so this light is so handy to read physical copies, or my kindle late at night. (Plus it's so light I can enjoy a good read right it my bed! I would seriously recommend this light to all readers! PS: My dad even borrowed this and said he liked it! (So it is father approved lol) Book Tastes
Over the past couple of months my reading tastes have really evolved. I was definitely in a bit of a contemporary phase last year but this year is the year of fantasy. Fantasy is just another way of saying that the book can be filled with anything. It can literally include anything and everything you think of.
Last year, I was incredibly loving books like P.S. I Still Love You and Fangirl. I was most definitely in some weird sort of romance loving stage. The relationships were the main focus of contemporary books and at the time, that was what I really enjoyed reading. I loved seeing how the two characters would get together (or sometimes not get together #ATBP too soon...). I was drawn to things that pulled on my heart strings and left me in tears or made me so giddy that I couldn't physically (and mentally) stop smiling for the rest of the day. Don't get me wrong I still love a good contemporary! However, I found myself really enjoying using my imagination a lot more recently instead of my emotions. Ever since I was little everyone wondered why I loved to read so much and why they couldn't get me to read anything, but fiction. The truth is when I read fiction novels, it's not so much of reading as watching a movie that no one else can see. My imagination is pretty crazy if I do say so myself, and so fiction books were practically the same as heading to the theaters. For this same reason I found myself drawn to fantasy A LOT this year. In contemporary novels, pretty much all the stories are set in standard and possibly real-life locations that don't require much imagination (you could probably google to find a similar location). In fantasy novels, the entire story takes place in a world someone else created, something the reader has never seen or even imagined. This is where it became exciting for me. I could see entirely new (and usually magical) things that contemporary novels could never indulge me in. Although I think fantasy will be my top choice for many years to come, don't worry because I'm sure I'll be reading plenty of contemporary novels as well! Let me know in the comments what your favorite genre is and if it was always that genre! Highly Anticipated Books
Ahh the infamous mile long TBR list.
(these are in no particular order)
Comment below if any of these books are on your TBR list or if you're as excited as me for these to be published !! Have a happy sunday!
It's been A YEAR since I first started this website... I don't even believe it. Time has passed so quickly and not enough books have been read!
Thanks for all the amazing support! The bookish community is honestly just a group of the nicest people ever (especially on the internet there are practically no trolls or hate! even for people with huge amounts of follower/readers, I barely see ANY negativity!) In the last year alone I have been able to: - write a decent review (whereas I had no idea at the start) - take much better pictures for bookstagram! - read around 50 books? - really get to understand the YA book community - visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - obtain 40 books and counting :) It's really strange, but I realized that reading has brought me a bit out of my shell. I feel like I understand myself a bit better by reading all these different stories. Thanks for joining me in my little story and I'll be posting more reviews, blogs, and whatever else I have to say soon! PS: fun fact, my signature and logo are both a crown because that's the definition of Stephanie! Inspiration Week!
Wow! I haven't done one of these in a while! So I plan on holding a special week(starting Monday) of all my favorite instagram accounts! On my bookstagram (bringing.paperback) I will be posting a picture inspired by that day's bookstagram idol!
For those of you who want to see a bit of my instagram I will insert a couple of favorites below!
Summer is here (and is going WAY too quickly)! I have teamed up with Renae from Bibliophile at Work to complete the Summertime Madness Book Tag created by JackEatsBooks.
1. Show a book with a Summery cover! (The one that showcases the sun, the beach, etc.) Stephanie:
I think almost everyone can agree that Morgan Matson is practically the bookish queen of summer. I originally planned on choosing the cover of Since You’ve Been Gone but not that she has published this beauty, I choose this one! Unfortunately I have not yet gotten my hands on this book and therefore I haven’t read it yet, but trust me I will soon! This cover is just summer in a picture: the dogs, ice cream, and the sunny lighting!
Renae:
I have to agree with Stephanie, when I think of summer covers I think Morgan Matson. However I chose ‘The Moon & More’ by Sarah Dessen. She has some of the most prettiest book covers known to the contemporary genre. And I love the water and the girl in this cover especially!
2. Pick one fictional place that would be the perfect destination for your Summer Vacation! Stephanie: I don’t know whether to choose between the bookstore or the library…. #bookishproblems I’m not much of a traveling kind of person, that is why I don’t personally want to go many places (Just ask my parents, I love to stay home!). Now if we’re talking about fictional places HOGSMEADE, even though I’ve been to Harry Potter world the real thing should be even better! Renae: I’d really love to visit the Emerald City for the summer to see the the sun and the rainbows and the light fracturing off the glass of the fictional castle. I’d love to see a Munchkin and it’s also pretty likely that I’d fit in since I’m not very tall either! 3. You're about to go on a flight to your Summer Vacation. But you want to read a book that lasts for the whole flight, so what novel do you choose. Stephanie: At the moment, I would continue reading Nevernight ,BUT to start a complete novel I would have to choose Winter because I have finished the first three books in the series and I REALLY WANT THE NEXT ONE. (ok whew got to calm down here). I have a mile long tbr list, but Winter sounds like the perfect plane read for me right now! Renae: I’d pick ‘The Host’ by Stephanie Meyer as I’ve been dying to read it since, well, forever. I’ve never read any of Stephanie Meyer’s books so I’d be really glad to dive into that. And since it’s pretty thick it’ll probably take me the plane ride… or a house ride if you get what I mean! 4. You have a case of Summertime Sadness. What happy book do you pick up to shine a smile on your face? Stephanie: I would read my favorite book of course! A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas is written SO well and I love the plot and the world of Feyre and just everything! It may not be the happiest book in the world, but just the writing and the story itself would cheer me up in a heartbeat!
Renae:
It isn’t a coincidence that we both picked Sarah J. Maas books! This novel made me smile, made me laugh and cry and left me craving more which is why I’m so excited for the next book ‘Empire Of Storms’ which comes out in September this year - not long to go! Reading about Celaena, Rowan, Dorian, Chaol and Lysandra would cheer me up right away.
5. You're sitting at the beach all alone. Which fictional character would be your beach babe?
Stephanie: *Sigh* Way too many characters can’t even be in the sun… I would probably choose Jace Wayland hmm… or like any of the ‘princes’ in the Lunar Chronicles so Wolf, or Captain Thorne, or Prince Kai. Fictionals boys really are better than real boys. Renae: Definitely Rowan Whitethorn or Dean Holder. Yep, I can see it now… *sigh* 6. To match your ice cream you want an icy cool sidekick! Which fictional sidekick do you pick? Stephanie: OOH a sidekick!? I always picture myself as the sidekick and therefore I don’t have much of an idea. Lila Bard is most definitely one of my top choices because she is not only an amazing assassin, but she has that spunk and originality! However, Hermione Granger is my number one choice! She is genius and underrated (even though everyone loves her she deserves even more!). Hermione is the best role model any young girl could even ask for! I don’t think she requires any more details about how amazing she is, but if someone needs any persuading let me just tell you that Hermoine is brave, smart, and hard working. (what more could you ask for!) Renae: I kind of dislike the idea of a hero and sidekick and I’d much rather just have a duo. So I’d really love to team up with Cinder or Scarlet because they’re both such badass female characters and we’d have to much fun! 7. Share the summertime happiness! Who do you TAG? Nicole: at fictionfreak.com All of you guys reading this! We did the F.R.I.E.N.D.S Tag on her blog so go and check it out here: http://divergentwolfgames.blogspot.com.au/2016/07/the-friends-book-tag-collab.html |
